VP of Engineering

The Vice President of Engineering reports to directly to the CEO and works closely with other functional leaders in the company, including those in software, finance, sales, marketing and our Chief Crowd Scientist. The VP of Engineering is responsible for all of the company’s product development activities.

Vice President of Engineering Responsibilities

• In concert with our Chief Crowd Scientist and CTO, the Vice President of Engineering will develop and lead strategic planning for and direction and control of software and product development activities.
• Provide technical direction and guidance, as well as hands-on project management, for all product development.
• Ensure the optimal application of technology and engineering resources to meet product development and/or customer requirements, per the product and/or marketing requirements documents.
• Ensure that the product is fully and correctly defined, developed and documented on time and high quality. 
• Hire and direct staff of senior group members and engineers to acquire necessary resources and plan to meet scheduled commitments.
• Ensure implementation of formal processes to support the product software development process.

VP of Engineering Requirements

• Strong operational and project management skills.
• Demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
• Solid understanding of engineering technical issues/needs, financial, sales, and marketing as related to product design and development.
• At least 10 years engineering experience. 
• Experience in managing the development of software-as-a-service, web-based applications required. Experience using classic LAMP stacks with emphasis on Python, Django, MySQL and Hadoop technologies would be a plus.
• BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required; MA or dual BA preferred.
